Zooms;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J85m7zfMYyM&feature=related

After watching the Trainspotting trailer, we were really inspired and wanted to incorporate still images into our clips while credits play over the top. First of all we tried it out on the gymnast clip and thought it looked effective. This is just a short overview of what we plan to do for every clip:

1) Zoom into yearbook picture
2) switches to the first frame of the clip which starts to play
3)Clips plays for a few seconds and then a still image is used
4)Title plays over the still frame
5)Clips continues to play

At first , while the other girls carried on editing the footage we already had , I tried zooming into the yearbook , I found it looked better if you moved the book to get it in the right place while zooming rather than moving the camera which looked quite jumpy. It was quite awkward zooming in and trying to move the book at the same time as the camera was quite high up in an aerial shot. We uploaded the footage and cut it and put it in our sequence to see how it looked. It was good but we thought we could make it better by having the frames around the pictures in the book tighter so you couldnt see the white around the edge of the page when it switched to the live action.

Hannah and I went to re-shoot the zooms in the art room where we filmed Luke. We found it easier if i zoomed in on the camera and Hannah moved the book in the directions I told her to get it in the frame. The only problem was trying to make sure Hannah wasn't in the shot. As you can see in the shot below , it was quite tricky and Hannah had to sit under the tripod which was quite entertaining.
We uploaded the new footage but found we could probably make the frames even better. This time sir suggested that rather than zooming in onto the framed picture , that we line it up perfect and zoom out of it , then when editing , we reverse the direction so it looked as if it was zooming in , we found this was much easier and quicker to shoot but the when zooming out , it was hard to get the book in the right place. We had a brainwave to make some minute marks on the table in pencil so hannah could move the book back to the exact same place everytime , in which we knew the frame would be perfect. We were very pleased with the end result.
